Set a fundraising goal — Share your goal with your family, friends and co-workers so that they can work to help you and your pet achieve your goal.
Ask, ask and ask again! Ask everyone you know. Remember you are asking for the SPCA and the animals and not for yourself. The moment you limit who you ask, you limit the amount you raise.
Online fundraising — Create your own personal and/or team page that your prospective donors can view. Upload your e-mail list and send out customized letters or emails to your contacts inviting them to make an on-line credit card donation.
Use social networking sites — Use Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites to get the word out to all your friends and to invite them to support you by making a donation. Make your own unique video, telling why you are participating in Wag n’ Walk and share it on You Tube and on your personal page.
Face to face — Ask prospective donors for a few minutes of their time so that you can talk without interruptions. Let them know why you are participating in Wag n’ Walk and ask them to support you.
Host a fundraising party! Invite family members or friends and charge admission in support of the animals in our community. Theme your party around a special occasion or activity like a; Movie Night, Progressive Dinner Party, Wine Tasting, Block Party or Holiday Party...the possibilities are endless! Ask attendees to pledge their support.
Create a buddy system — Ask someone who cannot walk to help you collect donations.
Businesses you patronize — Ask businesses you frequent for a donation such as doctor, dentist, gym, coffee shop, pet groomer, hair stylist, dry cleaner etc.
Bring your fundraising letter and Wag n' Walk information EVERYWHERE!
Ask one person a day to sponsor you in Wag n' Walk.
Suggest friendly competition — Competition between you and other walkers or team members. Set weekly and monthly goals and celebrate the individual that reaches it first.
Give up something — Give up a movie, manicure or dinner at an expensive restaurant and contribute what you would have spent to Wag n' Walk.
Ask friends to contribute to Wag n' Walk instead of buying a gift for your birthday, anniversary or special occasion!
Find out if your company has a matching gift program — Matching gifts can double the money you raise through your fundraising efforts!
Acknowledge your supports — Always send a personal thank you note or email when you receive a donation. This is easy to do with the on-line tools and it will make it easier to ask again next year.
Focus on the Cause — Let people know that by supporting your efforts, they will be helping ALL animals in need in our community. Your SPCA is completely independent and local and we rely on donations from people like you to help dogs, cats, barn animals, exotic animals, and wildlife. Learn more at www.SPCAmc.org.

Who to Ask?

Come up with a list of everyone you have supported either by purchasing a product at their store or business, using a service that they offer or have purchased a gift for any occasion. NOW is the time to ask everyone you know to support you!
